Modeling/CAD skills, project presentations and applications
Chicago, IL, United States

Chicago, IL, United States

If you were at last month's Meetup, we modeled a water bottle using Sculpt and Patch environments. We're planning to continue in that direction, add some detail and work on a new, different model. Come join us to learn everything you need to know about the Sculpt and Patch environments in Fusion 360. We'll take a look at creating freeform models in the Sculpt environment, and either converting them to solids, or working with them as surfaces in the Patch workspace. Additionally, we'll take a deep dive into the Patch workspace - that elusive surface modeling environment in Fusion 360 that you may have never entered. We'll walk through a few different Surface modeling workflows, and discuss the advantages they have over solid modeling. Bring your laptop with Fusion 360 installed, as well as your appetite! If you're just starting with Fusion 360, you will still be able to follow along through these exercises, but you might want to watch an intro video and become more familiar with the user interface before the meeting. There are plenty of online/webmeeting based tutorials and demos run by AutoDesk, you can find them through Facebook or AutoDesk's site.

Bridging the ECAD/MCAD gap with Fusion 360 & CadSoft EAGLE
San Diego , CA, United States

San Diego , CA, United States

Hey there San Diego Area Fusion 360 Users! We're partnering with the popular San Diego Hardware Hackers Group this time around, to learn about the exciting plans between Cadsoft Eagle and Fusion 360. Recently Autodesk announced the acquisition of Cadsoft Eagle Software, and we'll be sharing workflows around the current state of both pieces of software, plus how you can leverage their current connections. Today’s design engineers are facing unprecedented change and challenges as the products we design become more intelligent and more connected. The traditional means of increasing a product’s value is becoming less valid as the customer demands for new layers of connectivity and intelligence in their products increase. This presents a huge opportunity for us to re-think the way we do design. Engineers and designers working in the isolated silos of the past are becoming less and less productive.

Fusion 360 - More 3D Printing
Christchurch, New Zealand
Details +
Details -
Christchurch, New Zealand

As a bit of a recap of a previous session, but with a new twist, the plan for this one is to create a freeform character in Fusion 360 and 3D print it. The difference this time is we are going to design it in a way that will allow us to connect a machined part on to the bottom in a future session. So it's really Part 1 of 2, of a hopefully interesting workflow. If you haven't seen or used the freeform modelling tools in Fusion 360, check out some of these videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPpbaKqTS2c https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XD7HBFlIFMM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRwdzwYd5iU Create some shapes to share with the group, and we'll discuss freeform modelling techniques. If you have a 3D printer, you can get some nice looking parts using these surfaces. Don't worry if you've never used Fusion 360 before. The freeform stuff is easy to get started with. If you have your own reasonably powerful laptop, it'd be awesome if you could bring it with you to work on. Even more points for you, if you install Fusion 360 and create an Autodesk ID before the session. Start with the trial download here: http://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/overview
